About the course
Overview
Who is it for:It is ideal for doctor’s surgeries, nursing staff, and event medical staff needing to keep their FREC 4 qualification valid as well as other healthcare professionals required to revalidate their ILS requirement. Topics Covered:Over one day, learners’ performance will be optimised to deal with a deteriorating patient, resuscitation attempts and related events. The qualification will develop their existing knowledge and skills in patient assessment, devising a working diagnosis and recognising deterioration and management. Learners’ existing skills will also be developed so that they work effectively in a team to resuscitate patients in medical or traumatic cardiac arrest, in the out of hospital/prehospital environment. Assessment Method:This qualification is assessed by a series of practical demonstrations and a multiple choice exam. All successful students will be issued with an accredited certificate which lasts for a period of 1 year.
Before you come
You are attending a First Aid or Pre-Hospital Care training course, so we recommend comfortable clothing and footwear due to the practical nature of the session. To correctly assess specific skills, you will be asked to complete practical assessments, including CPR and safe use of an AED, which must be completed on the floor.
If the Learner has difficulty kneeling on the floor, they may practise with the manikin on a table or chair if it is safe. In real life, the casualty is likely to fall to the floor, so the Learner must demonstrate CPR and the safe use of an AED with the manikin on the floor at least once. Padding such as a folded coat may be provided to kneel on during the assessment. When using an AED trainer, the Learner must perform the skill without assistance from a third party. The Learner must demonstrate at least 2 cycles of CPR before applying the AED pads in the correct position and then follow the AED instructions for at least 2 further cycles without assistance from a third party. (Section 4b)
During the course you will learn practical skills and have opportunities to apply them in real-life scenarios. Our trainers will be available to answer any questions you may have.
