About the course

• Overview

  Delivered to focussed groups of no more than 8 delegates the course includes various practical activities including anatomy dissection, core skills workshops and scenarios. ○ Cardiac anatomy and dissection activity ○ Acute coronary syndrome & chest pain ○ Understanding blood pressure ○ Cardiac conduction pathways ○ 3 & 12 Lead ECG placement ○ Basic ECG recognition ○ Defibrillation and rhythms This course is ideally suited for first aid and prehospital care trainers, and those practicing at a FREC 3/4 level.

• Before you come

  You are attending a First Aid or Pre-Hospital Care training course, so we recommend comfortable clothing and footwear due to the practical nature of the session. To correctly assess specific skills, you will be asked to complete practical assessments, including CPR and safe use of an AED, which must be completed on the floor.

  If the Learner has difficulty kneeling on the floor, they may practise with the manikin on a table or chair if it is safe. In real life, the casualty is likely to fall to the floor, so the Learner must demonstrate CPR and the safe use of an AED with the manikin on the floor at least once. Padding such as a folded coat may be provided to kneel on during the assessment. When using an AED trainer, the Learner must perform the skill without assistance from a third party. The Learner must demonstrate at least 2 cycles of CPR before applying the AED pads in the correct position and then follow the AED instructions for at least 2 further cycles without assistance from a third party.
